Writing about ourselves is hard, so we took the easy way out and wrote about each other.
Chelsea
Don’t let her easy-going nature fool you – Chelsea is a stone cold crusher. Whether she is putting down miles on the trail or hitting the steeps at the local crag, Chelsea is up for any adventure that comes her way. This hard-working and down-to-earth Kansas girl grew up riding horses and swimming in the neighborhood ditch. When she wasn’t covered in mud, she spent her time playing classical piano and doing axles at the ice skating rink.
After taking every honors class known to man in high school, Chelsea went on to graduate from Wichita State University with a degree in Integrated Marketing Communications. It was here that she met her future husband during a women’s studies class (we wont talk about who got a better grade…that is a touchy subject). She has spent the last 7 years working in the financial services industry, most recently as a Mortgage Loan Originator. In her free time she can often be found camping, hiking, climbing, or feeding her cat, Gus. She loves that big cat and will probably miss him more than anything else.
Joseph
Renaissance man, adventurer, dreamer – these are the words that come to mind when I describe my husband. Whether he is planning the next big trip, talking about his latest climbing project (if only he could get that one move), or reading philosophy, he always jumps all-in – never doing anything half-way. Born and raised in Kansas, Joe attended Wichita State University and graduated with both a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and a Master’s degree in International Economics. Armed with his education, he was able to land a great job with the United States Senate which allowed us to eventually make our way to Washington, DC. While Joe did his best to fit in, you could easily spot him among the sea of suits with his neon yellow Patagonia Jacket and well-worn Chaco Sandals.
So why give up the fancy DC job? Well, it can all be traced to when Joe first read The Hobbit. For those of you who aren’t familiar with The Hobbit, SHAME! For those who have, you will remember that Bilbo Baggins left the comforts of the Shire and went on a grand adventure. Joe thinks he is Bilbo. This adventure is simply a case of mistaken identity. . .
